The Jerusalem Committee
The Jerusalem Committee belongs to the Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO), and was founded in 1993 through the convergence of 24 Jerusalemite Palestinian organizations that are members of PNGO and work in the different developmental and relief sectors. These organizations work together to meet the public interest in order to unify the efforts of the institutional work that supports the steadfastness and rights of Jerusalemites inside the holy city (Jerusalem). This Committee also seeks to establish the fact that Jerusalem is the perpetual capital of the Palestinian State, a political, cultural, spiritual, social and economical center for the Palestinian people, and is open to people from all over the world as a symbol of the strategic Palestinian peace.

Mission:
The Jerusalem Committee of PNGO aims at supporting and backing the steadfastness of all the classes and categories of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem through working with them at all political, social, economical, religious and cultural levels. This includes empowering and building the capacities of the organizations of the Palestinian civil society in Jerusalem, activating coordination and networking amongst them, and formulating a reference framework for coordination among the NGOs at the local, regional and international levels that relate to Jerusalem issues within the constraints of the member organizations work. This is considered to be highly important for establishing the Palestinian right in the Holy City and rescuing Jerusalem from Judaization and Israelization and the displacement of its original Palestinian residents.

The Committee derives its philosophy out of PNGO''''s values, which are:
1- Confirming that Palestinian lands are occupied, including Jerusalem.
2-Adhering to the national principles and the international legitimacy resolutions related to the Palestinian right in Jerusalem as a capital for the Palestinian State.
3-Making sure to enhancing the principles of partnership, democracy, social justice, development, respect of human rights and equity, especially in terms of gender.
4-Making sure to integrating the work of all the Jerusalem Committee''''s institutes without affecting the independency of any of them or interfering in their work details.
In order to empower and enhance the Jerusalem´s Committee of PNGO, there is an ongoing project aimed at Empowering Coordination and Networking amongst the Palestinian NGOs in Jerusalem.
The project aims at achieving a high level of coordination amongst NGOs in Jerusalem, in order to facilitate and enhance dialogue in the civil society, in a way that contributes to developing comprehensive work strategies and effective coordination mechanisms between the institutes operating inside Jerusalem.
The project''''s work is based on the rules, regulations and principles of the Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) through setting objectives that aim at improving and empowering coordination between the active institutes in Jerusalem and agree on common vision and objectives. This project will help PNGO to enhance its capacities and human and organizational resources in order to improve the construction and monitoring of sectoral activities and coordination amongst them. The project will also work on empowering and enhancing the Jerusalem Committee of PNGO, through establishing a dialogue base on both the humanitarian and technological levels, in order to build a body that influences the changing of policies in Jerusalem.
General Objective: Improving the performance and role of the civil society in Jerusalem
The project aims at raising the voices of the Palestinian civil society in Jerusalem in a more effective way among the international pressuring groups and in the local networks, through organizing information dissemination and distributing it, and participating in the name of PNGO in the different activities and representing it locally, regionally and internationally.
Specific Objective: Empowering coordination and networking amongst the Palestinian NGOs in Jerusalem.
The project significantly aims at accomplishing the following:
1-Organizing international conferences about Jerusalem.
2-Issuing a monthly e-magazine in Arabic and English.
3-Holding press conferences that especially relate to the different issues of Jerusalem.
4-Local developmental campaigns in Jerusalem.
5- Building the capacities of NGOs in Jerusalem.
6-Organizing a series of meetings, workshops, and conferences to discuss sectoral issues in Jerusalem.
7-Issuing a standard developmental manual of the developmental strategies in Jerusalem and the approaches for achieving them.
8- Producing newsletters, guidebooks and brochures which contain various issues that relate to Jerusalem.
