Stop War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity

The Israeli occupying state continues to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip by killing innocent civilians. In the meantime, the world and the international human rights committees, especially those charged with protecting civilians, have not moved an inch. Killing civilians has not been enough for Israel, as according to health authorities Israel has gone to the extent of using internationally banned weapons, and bombed schools, even those which were topped by the flag of the United Nations. We, the Palestinian Health Organizations in the Palestinian
Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO), emphasize that the occupying state has violated Article Sixteen of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which provides for the protection of civilians, the injured, the ill, the elderly, and the pregnant in time of war. Moreover, Israel has also violated Articles Seventeen, Eighteen, and Twenty of the same Convention, which oblige the occupier to facilitate the movement of the injured to treatment facilities. The Convention also prohibits attacks on hospitals, ambulances, and medical crews, and this under an Article that Israel did not commit to.
So far, 12 health crew members have been killed, 30 health professionals have been injured, and 11 ambulances and 4 fire fighting vehicles have been destroyed. The killing, targeting, and terrorizing of health workers is done to hinder them from performing their humanitarian duties. We, the Palestinian Non-Governmental Health Organizations, call for the opening of all border crossings - Rafah Crossing in particular - and the facilitation of movement of all transportations of medicines, medical equipment and aid to civilians, as provided for by Twenty-third Article of the Fourth Geneva Convention. As the aggression in Gaza continues, and whilst the United States continues to support and protect Israeli actions in the United Nations, we call upon the state signatories of the Geneva Convention to compel Israel to abide by the Convention articles. We also urge the prosecution and punishment for war crimes of those responsible for planning and implementing the crimes against humanity in Gaza Strip.
